- Lloyd James and Ed Ross frequently shared this car, #53. I am sure they raced at other tracks but VIR seemed to be a favorite since they raced there often.

Donna Mae Mims/Suzy Dietrich/Janet Guthrie shared this Series III Alpine (#80) at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966. Rosemary Smith and Smokey Drolet shared another Alpine (#78), too. These cars were Sponsored by Autosport. Norm Miller, Rootes Depot, provided me with some details:
In the article I have, Duncanson says, "actually, Rosemary Smith and
another American lady who's name I can't recall won the Niersberg Trophy - 36th overall; average of 66.8 mph, compared to Miles/Ruby 1st at 108.4 mph. Rosemary said she did most of the driving and that it was 'the most boring race of my life - I spent most of the time with one hand on the wheel and biting my nails in boredom!'".I wonder if this was a factory prepared car? Given that Jim Latimer's late Series III was factory prepared I would be willing to bet this Series III probably had Aluminum panels and other factory special options.
